The Carbon Wing is mounted with 8 stainless steel screws (4 per side) washers and nuts on the inner side of the trunk. Each stand has a 6mm foam protection pad under it to keep the water from seaming through the holes , and scratches to the paint.
The brain of your wing, the control box is what controls and monitors the wing. Inside you can find all the air control valves, sensors, and receivers to keep the wing working properly and safely. Every Box comes completely sealed and warranty will be void if opened.
The air regulator is connected after compressor and before the Control Box. The regulator limits the amount of air going into the box. Working pressure should be adjusted at no more than 100psi.
We have partnered with VIAIR to supply the air for our wings. VIAIR has satisfied millions of customers with suspension components by using durable and reliable materials that last for years to come. Every compressor and tank has a 2 year warranty. Even though this is our tank/compressor of choice, the system can be powered by any compressed air on board system (Air Ride).
Mounted on our test cars with digital scales, we were able to get the exact amount of downforce provided while braking with spoiler in "rest" position at (12 degrees) vs. pressurized (12-55 degrees) Shown Above.
Even though these numbers are impressive, they are vehicle specific, placing the mounts even a few millimeters forward/backwards on the trunk will completely change the numbers. We recommend mounting at a position where the outline of the wing is parallel with the edge of the trunk.
Computational Fluid Dynamics data was used to determine angle of positioning, shape of the deck, side plate design, and find a safety threshold for the angle of lift to keep drag force within spec. Often mistaken with downforce, the drag coefficient is a totally separate variable, it is the measurement of resistance of the wing in a fluid environment. We took into consideration the thickness and type of material used by most automotive makers and determined the safety threshold should be 75lb. of drag in order to keep the trunks intact without any damage, which is reached at approximately 100mph. What happens if you reach speeds above 100mph and drag exceeds the 75lb. threshold? the control box will simply not lift the wing but still provide the maximum amount of added downforce since the system will still be pressurized, we were able to achieve this by completely designing the inside of the actuator arms and air passages to collaboratively keep the drag and down force to the maximum.
Yes, the system is finely tuned to work as an air brake by maximizing drag at 70 (lb) of force which is achieved at approximately 95mph. The spoiler will do this by lifting the rear actuators and adjusting the angle from 12 degrees to 55 degrees. If drag exceeds the 70lb threshold the actuators will not adjust the angle of the wing but still provide an additional 136 pounds of downforce on average to the car ON TOP of the downforce provided by the 60" spoiler as seen on the graph above.
The spoiler is a reinforced 60" carbon fiber deck supplied in cooperation with NRG Innovations. This carbon deck is then bolted on to our custom made forged aluminum main support leg in front, and our custom made aluminum pneumatic actuator holding the rear. Hardware is all stainless steel.
Our test vehicle has 10k miles with the system under its belt without any part of the system needing any attention besides regular lubricating. The seals inside the air cylinders can develop leaks over time with temperature changes, if that is the case send us your actuators and we can provide replacements.
The install takes between 4-6 hours with proper tools.
Everything necessary to install will be included in the kit.
The control receiver will lift the wing every time you apply pressure to your brakes (under 70lb of drag force). The board receives the signal from your cars braking system by tapping into one of the wires carrying 12v to any brake light making it a simple install.
No, the wing lifts every time you step on the brakes within drag force limit. The controllers are simply to actuate the wing when outside of the car, after all, we all love to see an active spoiler in action.
We have attached a flexible animated LED light to the edge of our test spoiler. This is glued to the edge of the spoiler, we will not include a light inside the spoiler as it can damage the structure and rigidity of the spoiler. We can include the flexible animated LED light with your order.
Build time is 3 weeks from the day payment is processed, you will receive a tracking number between weeks 3-4.
Yes with extra shipping fees and customs.
